Established in 2003, Moon Lake Wildlife Refuge is a safe haven for all native wildlife.

Located in north central Nebraska, right in the heart of the sand hills, it is home to coyotes, badger, beaver, mule deer and antelope, among many others.

Moon Lake Wildlife Park has also brought elk and bison back to their native territory.

These animals will hopefully one day run free in the land they used to call home.

Bison

We currently have approximately 1600+ bison. They roam about 16,000 acres & consume some of the best grass one could feed. We do not supplement their diet except for minerals. We have natural water holes scattered all over the ranch to provide fresh, clean water.

Elk

We established our herd of 24 elk in 2007. They have since grown to a herd size of approximately 209 elk. They roam on approximately 16,000 acres consisting of patch woodland, open prairie, and swamp.

Mountain Goats

Here we have a couple photos of our Mountain Goats. Right now, we have 34 animals and they roam 700 acres, however when they are having their babies, we bring them into the barn area to keep a close watch over them.

Small Critters

The sandhills of Nebraska is the home to many species of wildlife. Sometime hard to find, these animals span the hills and valleys hiding from our view. But if you take the time to slowly trek into their backyard, you can appreciate their beauty & harmony.
